About the Position:
We are seeking an MRI technologist at our Downtown Chicago location. This position would report to the Senior Advanced Imaging Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for providing accurate MRI films as ordered by the physicians.
Develop and maintain appropriate protocols in conjunction with X-Ray Techs.
Gather accurate history and complete patient checklist prior to scan.
Practice proper safety precautions in the magnet environment.
Keep accurate scan information documented in log book.
Attend training and ongoing education in regards to the MRI equipment.
Monitor quality assurance testing and report findings accordingly.
Forward appropriate forms to Billing and Reimbursement Department.
Maintain appropriate levels of supplies.
Attend meetings and seminars to maintain skill level and CEUs.
Communicate effectively with patients and staff.
Stays abreast of and complies with all state and federal laws including HIPAA,OSHA,and FLSA.
Completes special projects as assigned.
Performs duties of co-workers and subordinates as workload dictates.
Interviews patient to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures and to request removal of metal objects which are hazardous to patient and equipment when magnet is activated.
Positions patient on examining table and places specified coil (receiver) such as head coil or knee coil,close to area of interest,following protocols requested by Radiologist.
Keys commands to specify scan sequences,and adjust transmitters and receivers,into computer.
Observes patient through window of control room and on closed circuit TV screen to monitor patient safety and comfort.
Alerts staff entering magnet room to danger of wearing or carrying metal around magnet.
Travels to clinic locations as deemed necessary.
Any other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
Graduate of an MRI program; plus a minimum of 3 years of MRI orthopedic experience; plus 3 years of previous MRI orthopedic experience preferred; plus 1 year of Siemens MR Scanners and GE CT Scanner experience preferred.
